FEST 2002

CREEPY DUDE 'N THE HOOD
Bad things happen. The Boogey Man lies in wait. Don't look back, something may be gaining on you. What are YOU afraid of? The Imaginarium is Cornerstone Festival's hands-on and brains-on approach to popular culture: movies and books, science and art, fantasy and myth as jumping off places to matters of life and death — that last item listed this year particularly. We're going to hell and back with that great Christian mythmaker, Dante; from heaven to earth with curious angels and with God incarnate as depicted in films like The Matrix; we'll examine deals with the devil and spiritual warfare as conducted with hammer, stake, and garlic. It's a Carnival of Souls: the dance is with Death; attendance is compulsory. But at the Imaginarium, a dance is still a dance.

FROM HAMMER HORROR TO HOGWARTS TO HOBBITS
This year, we'll take a look at the unique horror movies of famed British studio, Hammer Films. We'll also present a sequel to our still-unfolding analysis of the still-unfolding Star Wars saga, and dive fully into the Harry Potter controversy: i.e., Which was better, book or film? — a quest that will lead us from Hogwarts to Hobbiton, with a look at still another still-unfolding saga, Lord of the Rings.

Check out our seminars, meet our speakers, take note of the movies, and stay tuned for program updates and info on special activities, including a figure-modeling workshop sponsored by Imagin Dat.

On that note, we point out that while the Imaginarium has functioned as "a kids program for grown-ups," it has never been, strictly speaking, a kids program. Thus, parents should be advised this year's theme is darker and the films are scary and/or subtitled — though kids of ages are invited to our film Saturday night, which is also our one and only evening for the fabled Prize Give Away.
